Is it better to roll or spray a ceiling?

For most Ontario homes, spraying gives the most even ceiling finish, while rolling gives more control and needs far less masking. The right choice depends on the job.

  • Spray: Best on bare, freshly skimmed ceilings and large open areas. It is fast and leaves no roller marks, but it needs full masking of walls, floors and fixtures.
  • Roll: Best for occupied rooms, small spaces and touch-ups. It is easy to control and uses less masking, but it can show lap marks if done poorly.

On our removal jobs, the ceiling is skimmed smooth first, then primed and painted with two coats. That smooth surface is what makes either method look good. Our all-inclusive rate is $4.50/sqft for unpainted popcorn ceilings, $6.50/sqft for latex-painted and $7.50/sqft for oil-base painted. It covers removal, 2 skim coats, primer and 2 coats of paint.

If your home was built before the mid-1980s, test the texture for asbestos before disturbing it, as Ontario Regulation 278/05 requires. We coordinate testing at cost, $300 to $500. Call Eddie at (519) 729-7394 for a free quote. KW Popcorn Ceiling Removal · Kitchener service area · Google Reviews
