Can drywall repairs be painted over the same day?
No — joint compound must dry completely before painting. Depending on coat thickness, this takes 24 hours per coat. We apply multiple coats over 1–2 days, then sand and prime before the surface is ready for paint. Painting over wet mud causes shrinkage cracks.
How do you repair drywall cracks in ceilings?
Ceiling cracks are typically caused by settling or seasonal movement. We open the crack slightly, clean out loose material, embed paper tape, apply two to three coats of joint compound feathered wide, sand smooth, and prime. Hairline cracks may recur with severe settlement — we'll advise you honestly if we see signs of structural movement.
