East York's tidy streets of wartime bungalows and one-and-a-half-storey homes were largely built in the 1940s and 1950s, with plaster or early drywall ceilings. Many received sprayed texture during 1960s and 1970s updates, which places that texture inside the asbestos-risk window even though the houses themselves predate the popcorn era.
