Yes, some Millgrove homes with popcorn ceilings could contain asbestos if the texture was installed before the mid-1980s, since chrysotile asbestos was commonly mixed into ceiling texture through the 1970s and into the mid-1980s. Homes built after the mid-1980s are much less likely to have asbestos-containing texture, but the only way to know for certain is testing.

Under Ontario Regulation 278/05, testing is required before disturbing any suspect ceiling material. Removal itself is not mandated by law, and the Ontario Building Code does not regulate popcorn ceilings directly. We coordinate asbestos testing at cost, $300–$500, with no markup, and do not perform licensed abatement ourselves. If a sample comes back positive, we bring in a licensed abatement contractor before any removal work begins.
