Before we start, we recommend asbestos testing if your home was built before the mid-1980s, since chrysotile asbestos was commonly mixed into ceiling texture through the 1970s and into the mid-1980s. Testing runs $300 to $500, done at cost with no markup, and we coordinate it for you (we do not perform the abatement itself). Ontario Regulation 278/05 requires testing before disturbing suspect material, though removal itself is not mandated by law and the Ontario Building Code does not regulate popcorn ceilings.
