How long does ceiling removal take for a Shoreacres home?

Most Shoreacres ceiling removal jobs take 2 to 4 days of work on site, and larger or painted-ceiling homes can take up to 5 days. The timeline depends on your ceiling square footage, the ceiling type, and drying time between coats.

  • Main floor, a few rooms, or a condo (400-600 sqft): usually 2 to 3 days. These jobs typically run $2,000-$4,500.
  • Full 3-bedroom home (900-1,500 sqft of ceiling): usually 3 to 5 days, priced at $4,050-$11,250 depending on ceiling type.
  • Unpainted popcorn: $4.50/sqft all-inclusive. Latex-painted: $6.50/sqft. Oil-base painted: $7.50/sqft. Painted ceilings take longer to scrape.

Each price covers removal, 2 skim coats, primer and 2 coats of paint. The skim coats need drying time between them, which is why the work spans several days.

If your Shoreacres home was built before the mid-1980s, test first. Under Ontario Regulation 278/05, testing is required before disturbing suspect material. We coordinate asbestos testing at cost ($300-$500, no markup), and results usually take a few days, so book it early.
